Promising to commit isn't easy. Especially straight after new year's weekend.
I was tired, bored, home with everyone here feeling the same....then I thought, let me start today, it's only the 2nd (I kind of gave up when I didn't do anything on the 1st Jan). Close to 7 pm I searched through the books I have for something I can make using the very little stuff we had at home, no one was willing to volunteer to go to the supermarket and I definitely wasn't willing to drive either, I found a very simple chicken recipe that didn't require a lot of ingredients, Chicken Arayes Wraps. By reading the method it sounded easy, actually it was, apart from the time-consuming chicken boiling part during which I managed to make my usual Banana Cake (which I got from a Kids Cookbook I was given when I was 11).
And while everyone was eatig those, the Arayes is now ready :) These are very easy and I would recommend them for quick dinners or packed lunches ONLY if you have cooked chicken from before & pita bread. This is a picture showing some of the wraps.

The Chicken was now ready, I also boiled some drumsticks just because they were in the freezer. The recipe suggested that after making the mix for the Arayes (Arayes could be considered a version of wraps), I should individually wrap each one with foil and put again in the oven to cook. Now I'm thinking, this is easy to make but it took time...Time, a number of plates, 2 ways of cooking the chicken, folding, wrapping, etc...
My brothers were now hungry, cousin arrived and waited as I kept yelling: 10 more minutes!
THE DRUMSTICKS! I thought, I had those as well! By quickly dipping them in Flour, Eggs & Breadcrumbs (this is a recipe in a book I have so it counts!) and voilĂ !
some were eaten, good that we have a picture! |

and from the inside
The bread is crunchy, the inside is moist and tangy (as the shreded chicken is mixed with yougurt, pickled cucumbers and tomatoes - and some spices with Arabian influence). Next time, I will try a spicy option for the boys.
Conclusion, day 1 wasn't bad. I had fun, I managed to make 3 dishes and everyone was excited to have home made dinner & they didn't even know this was going online. So hopefully this is do-able :)
Cheers!
